Mmmkay, I know this is like my third post today but it's actually important.

In case you didn't hear, Bishop Makarios lost his battle with severe injuries sustained during a car accident in England on 5 January 2008. Despite the internal trauma and broken ribs, he held on until 23 February 2008.

If you took a class from him, heard from someone else about him or even just saw him walking across campus, take a moment and think of him. The loss to the Alma community and to the Indian Orthodox Church is monumental.

I just found this out yesterday and was crushed.

I'd like to know more of what happened though--how did he get in the accident? What were the injuries? Was he hospitalized for the whole seven weeks? Are they sending his body back to India?

Please let me know what you know. I hate not knowing what happened, or only knowing part of what happened--need closure.

What is that school (not only Alma, but his, in India) going to do without him?

The passenger side of the car he was in was smashed into, and he was conscious immediately following the accident but soon slipped into a coma.

I kept this group on my favorites : http://alma.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6981539914 and checked it daily after I found out. I only had one lecture from him, but he made an impression, and I am saddened.

very little information is available about the accident except that he was sitting in front seat. Who was driving the car. was it an avoidable one?
